Marc118, Have you tried aireating a sample of tank water outside, to rule out excess CO2 in your house?
Replacing LR is something I don't even like to think about, but as mentioned sometimes it is thought to cause issues due to excess nutrients, etc. Where the rock was collected may also have an effect on the amount of nutrients it contains and can absorb. Some rock comes from cleaner waters than others. "Cooking" the rock, if needed, would be an option as well I imagine. That basically turns the rock from an algae driven system to a bacteria driven sytem. The bacteria in turn consumes nutrients, etc. that normally accumulate in rock. It is a involving process, and lots of new SW is needed.
