ID help

I spotted something a little strange in the tank today. I tried to get a picture, but it was right up against the glass, and I couldn't manage anything that would help. It resembled a snail. It was about an inch long, with antenna on the 'head.' It also had a shell-lie structure on its back/shoulder area, but the shell didn't cover its entire body. The tail end of the creature was about 1/2 inch without any kind of covering on it. It wasn't any particular color, maybe a brown/beige, kind of bland. I know it will be hard without a picture, but any ideas?

Hmm... maybe a Stomatella varia ?

If so, they are beneficial algae grazers and a great addition to your tank.

And they are very prolific!!! I have tons in my tanks!!
