I've noticed a couple of things I cannot id in my tank. I'm wondering if someone could do that for me and let me know if it needs to go or if it's ok to stay. Thanks...

Steve

They are all types of macro algae. I would suggest manual removal. I`ve never had either type in my tank, so I can`t tell you how invasive it might get. It`s better to deal with it when it`s small and isolated.

i vote sponges for the white things too. that macro is very attractive. just keep an eye on it. hopefully it's not too invasive. how fast is it growing?

Thanks all. The purple tufts are not spreading with any speed so far. A few pieces here and there. Do the sponges need to be removed? There are about six pieces that I can see so far. I would imagine that they can stay...yes?

yes, the sponges won't hurt anything, and if the macro is very slow growing and not very tall, i'd leave it for a while.
