Root-like growth?

I've noticed, over the past week or so, a strange root-like growth coming out of my zoa colony; here's a picture...

I know corals don't have roots, so this is a bit befuddling...

It also has a number of small, terrestrial mushroom-like growths on it, some have appeared within the colony as well...

(I know about the other algae...I'm working on that)

You might want to take out what you can when it gets to be to much for your tank.
 
Good plan. I've never kept caulerpa, but one of my LFS had this stuff overwhelm one of their tanks to the point they had to take every bit of rock and sand out of it. Get it before it gets you.
