Round discs growing in aquarium

Anyone know what these round reddish brown discs are growing on my live sand? About a 30 day old tank setup, cycle pretty well done, nitrites coming down .25, nitrates going up 40 ppm. I'm new to this and just trying to make sure I catch problems before they get out of control.

I did have two snails die, I never thought that would be part of them. Thanks for the info.
