A coral of some type.... it had a pink/purple stoney base that was made up of about 15-20 tubes, kind of like a bunch of straws put together, cut at different lengths, about the same color as coraline, that was about 1.5x1x1 -ish. The polyps (?) were feather like, brown/purplish on the underside with an almost florescent green coloration on the tops. It looked alot like some types of Xenia, but I havent seen any photos of a Xenia base, and thought they were soft.

It was just laying on its side in the sand, the LFS guy said it was a broken piece of something they sold recently. I couldnt undertand his accent, and wasnt sure if he was saying a scientific name, common name, or just making something up.

Any ideas?

I think thats it.

I found this photo. The one at the LFS was a bit more pink, and wasn't grey where the polyps emerged.

Thank you.
