I have a shrimp i think its about 1/2 inch long, clear outer body and dark inner. It has taken over a shell and seems to be moving sand out of it. Any ideas what it is?

My first impression was skeleton shrimp, but it's hard for me to be sure without better pictures.

Does it look like these guys? ->skeleton shrimp - Google Search

I really dont think its a amphipod i have lots of those but they are a half the size of this one unless this is the next stage of their life? It looks more like a mantis or grasshopper head and has its claws/arms coiled up like a praying mantis. Its out all hours of the day i checked skeleton shrimp deff not that.

You should hope not!, Mantis shrimp are horrible, they can be kept in a species only tank, but can and will kill anything else in your tank.

Yeah definitely try and catch them, maybe set up a small tank for them, see if you can raise them yourself!

I would definitely not leave them in your tank though
