This thing has been in the same position for a while, but it's usually completely spread open and looks like a bunch of white dots in a spiderweb. For the first time today, I found it closed up in a ball when I turned the lights on and it slowly started opening. It has not opened up completely in the picture. It doesn't look like aiptasia/majano and it can't be an anemone because I just have standard NO lighting. What is it?

It's not a bubble anemone. It's what they call a ball anemone. They are usually nocturnal. They are actually closer related to mushrooms than true anemones. Just google ball anemone and you'll find all kinds of pictures like that one. They are pretty harmless unless they get huge, which isn't likely.

Thanks Jaybird! It looks really cool and is pretty small right now so I'm going to leave it alone.
