Soft Purple stuff growing on rock

been appearing slowly in the last few weeks... purple, and soft and spongy. is it good? bad? coral?

I don't believe its corraline or anything like that, because corraline algae typically is a much harder, calcerous type of algae. In my opinion, its probably just some kind of nuisance algae, kind of like cyanobacteria. I can't really tell from the picture provided but I wouldn't really worry about it. If it continues to bother you, just removes it manually or treat your tank with an algae medication in case.
