Some white on my rock...

Hey guys, had the tank set up for about 1.5 months and levels and ph and all that stuff is great...in fact i just added 2 spotted puffers and another crab today

but i noticed some of my LR is turning white on top....whats goin on?

Your LR is bleaching, or "dying". Not a big deal, there's some basic info available here: http://saltaquarium.about.com/blqalrturningwht.htm

If you correct the problem, the algae should regrow.

Did it have coralline algae on it and thats what it dying??
If so then your cal and alk levels may be off..... Are you adding any additives to the tank?

Not adding anything to the tank...not quite sure if it had coralline algae on it...should i be adding something? or testing the cal and alk?

you should be testing the calcium and alkalinity levels if you want coraline to grow. In a FOWLR tank the levels are not as important as a reef. I test my fowlr maybe once a month and have not added anything, the regular water changes keep levels up. Coralline algae is the hard pink,purple and some times green algae.Can u post a pic?
