In one of my LR, there is this opaque 3 in. long arm (for lack of a better word) that is about the width of a human hair that seems to be reaching out and searching for something. It occasionally jerks back all the way back in, then slowly comes back out. I'm just wondering what it is or if it's dangerous? Thanks for any help.

Some type of worm most likley. If you post a pic you will get a better ID. Most will be harmless detrivors and should be left in the tank.

Cheers
Steve

sorry, I am still living in the stone age here, I have no digital camera. it's kind of see thru whiteish, it doesn't seem to be attacking anything and has been in the same hole for about 3 days now, that's when I first noticed it.

Thanks Steve, although hard to see in the pic, it sounds like a spaghetti worm, it does have the little pile of sand or white stuff around the hole it is in.
