Starfish question

I'll be the noob again, my buddy had recently bought a star from the lfs and it died on the trip home. They replaced it with a different star but he is unsure if it is reef compatible. It was labeled on the stores tank as a knobby star and all the research I have done says it is not reef compatible. Although no pictures I have found are alike. I'll attach the picture he sent me below

A general rule of thumb that if a starfish is knobby at all like that, it is not reef safe.

I dont know what kind of star that is but im going to go with not reef safe.

Took the chance and threw it in the tank, only have 4 frags of corals growing in it. It has been a week or two and hasn't touched any of them. Guess I will just keep watching. ?

prob not reef safe , another question what size tank is it in ,
as it will most likely starve to death ,
