tiny stone like things

hey all iv had my sat up for almost a year and things are fine. however i have a sand bed and recently iv noticed tiny stone like things all over the place. i havnt put any stones in the only thing iv put in is live rock and sand. i dont think its causing any problems it just looks horrible and i was wondering if there is anything i could add to tidy up the sand bed for me..

Looks like shells and such that have just made their way to the top of your sandbed.

where would they have come from and i dont like them how do i get rid or is it a case of removing them my self
