Depends on how many you wanted, if they breed and hatch out with no intervention from you...yeah, much cheaper, but if you have to set up a tank to keep predators from the eggs, feed the other snails etc....tank maintennace...the cost for just enough to populate your tank may go quite a bit higher than you would pay from a retailer. I have no experience with breeding cerriths so I can't give you any thoughts on if that might be necessary.
