What is it

I know it is similar to a green star polyp but dont know what it is?

I think it's more than similar..I think it is a green star polyp coral. What makes you doubt that it is?

This stuff extends out relatively far. And if u look close at it , it doesnt have the defined white star look in the middle

Depending on location, flow, and lighting they can look anywhere from a small tight star to long grass like tentacles from my experience.

Holy crap I take that back.. almost certain that's a LARGE encrusted colony of pipe organ polyps

Well I'm impressed that's quite the colony there lol I love the skeleton they form and since mine stays on the sand bed its growing like a brain coral making a nice "dome" shape

Is there a way to control them. . . Cut them back

Frag em... They are a peaceful coral though and won't kill off anything much like the blue clove polyps.

I have had it for about a year. And it started about the size of yours

I just don't want it covering all of the rock I have

When I try and trimming it - it wont come off the rock

Ya it makes a hard skeleton of tubes... Can you break them off at all? This is why I'm growing mine like a brain haha
