What is this

These tubes are growing off the exoskeleton of my frogspawn in this picture but I'm seeing them on my trumpets as well, some are really small and some are up to about 3'' long, they look like feather duster tubes but nothing is coming out of the ends.

If there is a mucus like substance coming from them (usually at feeding time) I put my vote on vermetid snails, although 3" seems a little large for them
 
I see feather dusters. If you look close you can see their fanned "heads". They are black. The two on the right side are easier to see
 
They do stress them to some extent, but I don't think it's that big of a deal. If you want to kill them just break them off with pliers or coral cutters.
