I googled bristle worm and they found a similar pic and it said it was a harmless scavenger

Correct. Just be careful not to touch them with your bare skin, they are lined with spines that are quite uncomfortable. They will also be a good sign on if you are feeding too much, they will simply get massive if this is the case.
