What Kind Of Crab??

Can anyone tell me what kind of crab this is? It burrows down in the sand.

They were brought to me from the Florida beach. I dont condone this nor do I even want them, but they are here, and in the Qt. Do you think they can be put in a reef tank? :|

Actually I am leaving for Treasure Island, Fla. on the 19th. That is a good idea, I will leave them in the qt till them. If I find out they are ok, I might put them in the main though. They are about the size of a quater.

I'll check out the ghost crab idea. Thanks All!

well the only crab that i will have in my tank is the ones with the fans. they are filter feeders and do not eat any thing else. i have 2 of them in my tank. all others get removed

A 46 gal bow front (Soft coral) reef tank with a 10 gal sump. And a 30 gal (SPS and Clam) reef tank hooked up to the sump of the 46 so they share water.

Ok I set up a 10gallon tank for them until I can get them back to the beach on the 19th. I found out that these crabs needed a area of dry sand so I filled up one side with sand, and filled the other with water. They burrow alot in the sand, and spend most of the time out of the water. They swim great though. I took out a few gallons of water out of the main, hooked up a little filter that came with the 10g. It makes a nice water fall. Well here are some pics.

PS. I used some reg playsand I found at the hardware store. I seeded it with a few cups from my tank, just in case they eat stuff like that.
