Hi, my neightboor had an emergency and is moving. He sold me his tank. I have a 40g, and i wanted to make it a reef. I don't want any fish that is not reef compatible. I'm just a starter and I have no clue what these are or if they are reef compatible. I don't wnat to bother him being that he has so much to worry. Please help!

None of those are appropriate for a 40g tank, sorry. The last one is a lionfish. Thats the only one I know by name. Best bet is to find a pet store nearby to rehome them.

yay my first salt water ID im a total freshie so this just made my day im really sorry you cant kkeep any in a 40g there beautiful fish

First pic is a fox face and a korean angel I believe an the second one us a humu trigger fish I think and the last is the lion fish...but I could be way wrong going off memory none of the fish are reef safe and need big tanks...

Oh, I meant I had a40g before and now is a 75g. sorry for the miswordings

Okay let me clear the air here.

First picture: Top is a sailfin tang (Reef-safe). Bottom is a Foxface Lo (Reef safe with caution according to LiveAquaria, but I've seen many in reefs)

Second picture: Humu Picasso Trigger, not reef safe

Third: Volitan Lionfish, reef-safe with caution (IMO mostly seen in FOWLR predator tanks)

The tang and the Lion can't stay in the 75, but the trigger and foxface are min 70G, but if you were to add any other fish stock very lightly. Obvioulsy if you are doing a reef you'll want to rehome them all to be safe (Tang being just too large)

It looks like theres a Niger trigger or something in the bag with the lionfish?

+1 to idreaminsaltwater's post I agree with everything

I have seen several people with the fox face in a reef tank mainly sps without issues. They do need a lot of algae, so a have a good supply of macros. I know of only one person that has a lionfish in a mixed reef tank. One word caution on the lionfish, they need a wide variety of food to stay healthy, they can develop lockjaw.

Very nice fish, did you get a good deal at least being that you'll have to rehome most if not all of them?

Yes, great deal $200 for everything. 60 lbs live rock, the tank, lights, testers, filters. I added what I had on my 40g.

What do you guys think.? I already rehomed the fishes! And got a little clownfish
