What thing

Can anyone tell me what the white thing is growing in the middle of this picture?? I'm at a total loss. Thanks in advance for any help.

Soft I believe. I am pretty sure it retracts at night.

That was the only thing I could compare it too. I just got It from another lady who's tank is 5 years old with no other trace of xenia and this retracts completely different than the xenia I have.

Which Xenia do you have? I have pom pom Xenia's and they look like it.

I picked it up to get a better shot. Is it possibly more of the leather spreading and growing ??
