It depends on your load .. how many fish do you have in there.. if. Not are u feeding the hermits? I would be worried not enough food to go around and the first chance ur hermits have they will eat your snails. Also what size are they?
To give you an idea i have 1 large 2 med hermits and around 5 very small ones. With 5 turbid. I have 40 pounds of live rock with a pair of clown.. im a constant feeder i fed twice a day very small amount but theres enough to go around.

add as many as you like to watch. there is no recommended amount, and you don't need any crabs and snails. add too many and you will have to add food to keep them alive, as stated above.
