Hey guys, I got this mushroom rock a couple of months ago for my 2.5, and I ended up moving it to my 15. Anyway, there's been some stuff growing on it that wasn't there when I got it, and I have no idea what it is. I'm assuming the red stuff is some kind of macro algae, but I've never seen anything like the reddish spotted-looking thing in the middle of the pic. With my experience level though, that isn't saying much! So here's a pic:

What could that thing be, and is it harmful?

Thanks!

Looks like it could be some sort of Predaea. That's a nice pic!

Thanks for the help. I'll have to research it a bit after work. Do you think I should remove it, like is it harmful at all? I hope not because I actually like the way it looks a lot. Do you have any idea what the red macro algae is that is around the "predaea"?

I wouldn't remove it. You may have to trim it. It's a good nutrient export.
