Hey guys, i have been having some trouble these past few weeks with these white critters that look kinda like spirals. At first i thought they might be snails reproducing, but now i dont think this is the case. I thought they might be algea, so i tried to brush them off the glass, but they dont come off!!! Im affraid it might be something that could potentially hurt my tank. I have a 30g FOWLR tank with fish and inverts. All of my water parameters are normal. Please help

They could be pods or snail eggs. Can you get a pic?

I can try to get one up later tonight, but i cant right now because i am at work.

Thanks guys. I will try to get a pic up in a couple of hours. Is there anyway to get them off of the glass besides hard scrubbing because although they may be benefical, they make my tank look crappy.

If you have a glass tank, use a scraper. I use a putty knife on mine, just be careful around the corners, so you don't end up scraping off the silicone. If you have an acrylic tank, maybe try a plastic scraper and be careful not to scratch the tank.....

Thats the best i could do. Any advice about these mystery creeatures would be helpful.

Small feather dusters...harmless. Go ahead and scrap them off of the glass if you want.

Your right FishFrik, their numbers will wax and wane depending on the nutrients in the tank. They normally have a large outbreak in new tanks but dwindle down over time with good tank maintenance. Any hard plastic or metal scraper will remove them.
