I have no idea what this is and no idea how to get rid of it. My LFS says the water levels are perfect...

Any idea?

EDIT!::: Sorry about the large images when I first post this. Corrected now :)

Yea... my digital camera is broken so I had to take the picture with my phone. The flash is actually off on the first too... LOL.

I'll try again in a bit..

Thanks though

Are they hard? Look like tubeworm "shells". Else could be some sort of filamentous sponge? Either way, nothing to worry about, IMHO. I have those all over my live rock, usually underneath or under the sand.

Definitely soft. It's mostly growing beneath my live rock... but it's starting to make it's way around. Kinda annoying... and not pretty... LOL.

Is there anything I can do to keep that in check?

It does look like sponges, mine grow under the rock. I haven't seen any of them grow around to the top of the rocks. I'm not sure how to control them, but I wouldn't worry, I doubt they will grow in the brighter areas.
