Worm or tentacle?

I couldn't get a good pic so I'll describe it as best I can...
It looked like a worm, brown/tan in color - maybe 1/8 inch in diameter and an inch or two long. But when it extended it looked like a sock being pulled inside out. I couldn't see the whole body, it was coming from a hole in the rock. It was semi transparent so I could see it pull inside itself :?
I know thats a terrible description but does anyone have a guess?

Peanut worm. Harmless rock boring worm that extends itself to feed on detrius.
