Yet another What in the world is this.

Found this on my new lr from lr.com, at first I thought it was just a funny looking rock but today it's not in the same place as it was yestrerday.

They are algae eaters, not a problem, but I don't like having urcins in my reef, cause they are bulldozers.

Looks a bit like Echinometra mathaei, also known as the Rock-boring Urchin 8O

Like jamal said they enjoy calcareous algae and have been known to find the occasional coral tasty.

(just kidding it's a pencil urchin :P )

A 46 gal bow front (Soft coral) reef tank with a 10 gal sump. And a 30 gal (SPS and Clam) reef tank hooked up to the sump of the 46 so they share water.

Yep. Just had to get in the picture. I guess it's off to the lfs with the urchin.

I got him out of the tank. It's in my ls tank for now, that will give me a few days to decide what to do with it. It is after all a little thing (about the size of a dime, maybe).

I have 3 of them in my tank. They may eat coralline, but they also spread it around through their poop. I like the diversity in my tank.

They will allso over turn clams if you have a clam up close to your lights
