Scarlet Badis like heavily planted tanks and may only accept live food.
Mine were kept at 76°F

A one Gallon is very hard to heat and they can change temp very fast.

Live foods in small amounts

I had a scarlet badis that I used to feed Hikari Micro Pellets, which surprised me because I expected it to only accept live foods.

I had one that ate flakes and crushed pellets, but he was bought already eating prepared foods.

What about a Sparkling gourami, Licorice gourami, Choclate gourami for that aquarium. They are all small and like black water type aquariums. And usually you can get away with just keeping one alone in a aquarium.

Yeah I'm sure a sparkling would work definitely not a chocolate although they look beautiful.
