Nicely done. I have a 45 G tall too. (See attached pics). I'd be interested in what you're doing for light, since the tank is so tall. Mine is a "biotope". I emersed a land plant "Chinese Evergreen" and the roots are using the ammonia, nitrites and most of the nitrates, so I don't have to do much in the way of changing out the water. I just put back in what's lost to evaporation. I do have standard filtration to filter the water at night when the plants rest.

I have a single 6500K, 32 watt, T8 for the aquatic plants. I can only have low light plants at the bottom, since the light is pretty weak by the time it gets to the bottom of the tank.

I saw your tank on another thread the other day, my tank has four 35 watt T5 HO lights I run all four every other day for 4 hours and two for six hours on the other days.

I would be concerned about proper gas exchange on a tall tank. You're likely already aware there's a minimum of surface area on such a tall tank, so you
need plenty of surface movement to get oxygen into the water and allow carbon dioxide to escape.

I have two larger HOBs running in addition to rubber tubing attached to a large air pump to keep the tank water aerated.

I like the T5 bulbs. I've never used the high output ones, but have light strips with 2 X 28 watt T5s and LEDs on my larger tanks.

What brand of lighting and fixtures are you using? Just curious.
