Ive had this algae eater for 6months now, over 3 months ago its head turned yellow from a brown colour matching his body. Then it progressed down its back and now past the top fin. Some of the original colour is left near the tail, Iam just wondering if this colour change is normal?

The bottom picture clearly shows it.

Could just be changing colors as it matures. Is it a CAE? What other fish do you have with it?

1 julii cory, 1 skunk cory, 6 tetra.

Im not sure which algae eater he is im guessing CAE or something else.

There is no drama in my tank, he is well behaved.

Ok. Keep a really close eye on him. It looks like a CAE to me and they can get very nasty as they mature, quite big also. Do a bit of searching on goggle and you'll see what I mean.
