Gulf Coast Pygmy Sunfish/Brown Darter

Just a few pics taken today of e.gilberti and a photogenic brown darter.

Adult male going dark

Same fish in a brighter light, dim lighting/background/tannin water seems to make them stay dark.

Adult female with a belly full of bloodworms.

There are some really cool fish in Florida waters! They look awesome.

Not sure, but I'll put a few in the Chi with the betta and see how it goes. They are probably fine, they don't have flowing fins and they aren't nippy. They are a lot like bettas in that they spend a lot of time suspended in the water, often around or under cover.

OK awesome!!! I was going to try to get a female but these guys would be way better. Are they best in trios or pairs or what?

They are best in pairs but you can have multiple males in a well planted setup.

Hmmm OK. I'm going to have to look onto them. Can they work as a schooling fish?
