I've never had a mudskipper before, but they're so cool and cute Lol

55 gallon elephant nose tank.
16 gallon vampire shrimp and snails

I'm thinking it's not a good idea to keep his crickets next to his cage.. He sits and stares at them ?

Shellyx you have an elephant nose and that's awesome itself! I have one but he is still super shy. I had dreams of him playing in my hand.... Maybe one day ?

I've had mine for 3 and a half years and he's my pride and joy Lol he's very interactive with me, likes to play when I'm doing a pwc which makes cleaning longer
Love your mudskipper, he's really wanting those cricket's Lol

No experience with them, just wanted to say great pics and I'm very jealous (y)

What size tank do you have him in?
What type of mudskipper is it?
Where did you get him?
Do you plan on tank mates?
Is the water brackish?

I have him in a 10 gallon tank by himself. The lps said he is a Asian mudskipper but my research has found that isn't a thing lol... I do not plan on tank mates because I would be too nervous he would kill them. I am slowly making the water brackish as they had him in freshwater

Here is my 29 gallon brackish tank. I have 2 indian dwarf mudskippers which is what yours may be, although the color of the body seems a little different. I also have
2 Red claw crabs
2 Nerite snails
4 orange chromide cichlids
I did have 6 bumblebee gobies but they are in another tank and im attempting to breed them.

Overall i have about 20-22 gallons of water. I am slightly overstocked but everything is doing well. the crabs really help with the over feeding of the puffer. They all get along and the only time the puffer gets aggressive with the other fish is when i drop a snail in for him. the mudskippers almost never go into the tank. i would encourage you to switch out those stones for sand. Mud is obviously best but in an aquarium it is not so easy and a nice fine sand works best. my sand isnt coarse but it is larger than i would like and i am going to switch out the sand on the mudskippers portion to a fine white sand that i used to have in the tank.

The mudskipper you see in the picture is on a small dock that i made him. sometimes the 2 fight and one will take over the dock.

My best guess after hours of research is he is
Periophthalmodon septemradiatus http://www.academia.edu/842918/Firs...n_Teleostei_Gobiidae_from_Peninsular_Malaysia

I love your tank... I wanted more of a species only tank. I did read that my Knight Gobies would go good in there but I would be super crushed if he killed them. Thanks for the advice on the sand... I wanted sand but my husband talked me out of it. I may add sand to it and slowly lose the rock.

Im just leaving work but this is your best bet to compare and see which one looks closest to yours

Yep that is what I used. Some are so similar I had to really guess my best between 2

Homer8 what and how often do you feed your muddy buddy? I'm struggling trying to figure out how much to feed him. He will eat frozen or flake food if he sees it moving in the water.... I will sprinkle some flakes and the filter makes them move around a bit but of course most of that goes to the bottom and never gets eaten. He will eat some black worms... He will eat 'red worms' which just look like outdoor worms.
