Hi there. I have been in this hobby for 12 years and this tank was set up 6 years ago, I have had my Oscars for 2 years and the Jacks for 8 months. All the other fish were intoduced 2 weeks ago and are all doing very well.

Stock list is:
2 Albino Oscars - 6"
2 Jack Dempseys - 6" and 5"
1 Gold Severum - 4"
1 Geophagus - 3"
1 Frontosa - 3"
1 Featherfin Synodontis - 5"

Filtered with two Aquaclear 70s and heated with 2x 200w and 1x 300w Fluval heaters

I just did a major cleaning of all my ornaments and plants and rearranged everything (excuse the cloudy water). I am thinking of changing the gravel for pool filter sand.

What does everyone think? Thanks

That tank is large enough for the two oscars, and that's about it.

What is the nitrate concentration?

What is the nitrate concentration?
Stocking has NOTHING to do with tank volume, it is all about water changes.
It is hovering around 30 ppm, should I be alarmed?
20% change every 5-7 days and my filters are full of Bio-Max biological media.

EDIT: I just tested the nitrate @ 20 ppm just to be sure.

That means you are fine, for now. But as these guy start growing that won't last. Considering that oscars can hit 15" they will fill the tank on their own.
