Just wondering what some of you younger reefers (like me) tanks look like? Like younger as in under 18. And self funded ones are always the best. Advice for how to save money is welcome and appreciated!

Here's my tanks!

Hi my name is jack and i am a 16 years old reefer..lol. I had a 30 gallon tank but i upgraded to a 66 gallon tank recently and i am moving everything over. In the new tank i have a large engineer goby, occy clown, black clown, and chalk bass along with corals.

I fund it by waiting for birthdays, christmas, etc. i make money by playing tennis with kids and bu doing chores. Ill get a job this summer and i will be able to buy more stuff for the tank! I also make money by making bets with my dad... An beating him :) haha

Haha! Interesting ideas. Do you have pics? I only have a 20 gallon.

I'm 27 but I have two kids does that count? It's just like being 16- I'm still broke. Lol.

Best way to save money in this hobby is to find a local reef club. Many are willing to trade frags or sell them at ridiculously cheap prices. Another way is to purée organic foods instead of buying frozen prepared foods. Also- bulk buys take up space but save money.

Reminder: Please stay on topic. Threads are not the place for chit-chat, but PMs and the chat room are. Thank you.

Of course it counts! And thanks for the idea. What's the best way to find local reef clubs?

Usually you just google for reef or marine clubs in your county or city or surrounding ones. There is one in my tri county area. They usually have frag swaps or auctions, monthly meetings and yearly events so it is really nice. Plus it's great to meet other people in the hobby face to face.

Never posted a pic of my tank before! It doesnt look too good right now, but its far from finished!

Also my iphone camra doesnt do the tank justice
