Hi all, I will eventually switch out all the fake plants in my 30 gallon and then add lots of live plants. Show off your heavily planted tanks! I need inspiration!

This is my 36! Ignore that potted guy sitting in there. Haven't figured out what to do with him yet lol.

All the above mentioned tanks look great. Well done.

In the meantime while you are waiting, you CAN make an all fake plant tank look nice. It just takes time and planning.

The only thing real in this tank is the driftwood. I don't have time right now for the planted tanks I once used to keep.

Agreed with hpiguy. Something to consider is using fake plants that mimic the red that high light plants produce. If you mix that in with low light real plants you can really pull off a pretty aquarium.

Here's my 40g. Sorry for the bad pics.

are any of you using any type of c02 injection in your tanks? my angelfish tank started off heavily planted and was told the c02 would sustain the plants, but that was an epic fail. what hpiguy has done has given me alot of hope to try again! right now i'm "moderately" planted with various fake plants

I use DIY co2 and I also use flourish excell it's working great for me. I also use regular flourish and flourish iron and root tabs.

Is the c02 necessary in a planted tank? Or just a good think for the plant growth? I did have an amazon sword in a community tank once that grew very well but I never used any c02 that I can recall.

Different plants do better with different things but you can do a low tech tank that will grow great without all the ferts. I have a 20g that just grows from the light and substrate and fish wastes.
