Tell me when you're sick and tired of these! Here is a before and after of my PetSmart 'Dinosaur Eels' which are really Polypterus senegalus.

Here's what they looked like when I bought them:

Here's one after a little more than a month of growth:

I'm really proud of that last picture. I think it is one of the best I've ever taken.

Very nice photos, Fruitbat. I wish my ropefish would sit still long enough to have such nice pictures taken. :D

So how big are the little monsters now? Have the juvenile's horizontal stripes faded or is it just the different lighting between the two shots?

On a related note, I saw some stunning polypterus ornatipinnis ( http://aquaworld.netfirms.com/Other/Polypterus_ornatipinnis.htm ) in my lfs this weekend for $40 each.

QTOffer...

They have grown considerably....the largest is about 4 inches now. Yes...the striped pattern is all but gone and they've taken on typical Polypterus senegalus coloration.

Lori....you're right....next thing I know they'll be going off to college!! :D
