Has anybody on here done an automatic top off using simple plumbing parts such as a toilet float valve?

I would think it would be too big. But if it did fit you would probably have to put some sort of stop on it so the float wouldn't drop as far as usual. The normal set up you would probably lose quite a lot of water before it would kick on. Does that make sense?

It does. That's what I was thinking too. I was just curious if anybody has done it before. That way I could get some tips.

You can get a float switch off eBay for like $2, that's what I did
