Backflow solution

I wanted to see if anyone has heard of a product or DIY way of preventing a flood from a refugium.

I understand the solution of a siphon break and keeping the water at a lower level that will allow for water to flow back into the refugium. I have attached a pdf file to illustrate what I'm talking about - kind of a modified check valve.
