Build or Buy Nano Cube

I wanted to get a little cube for my office desk. I figure it would be no larger than a gallon or so. I'd keep some plants and Ghost Shrimp, possible a Mystery Snail. Are there inexpensive pre-built ones out there? I'm talking about just the container itself. If not, would I be able to pick up squares of glass and just put it together with silicon sealant from the pet store? What kind of filtration would be best for this?
