i was watching King of DIY's channel on youtube on how to make a filter.

I was wondering if anyone knows a cheaper method for media? Can i cut up a kitchen sponge into tiny pieces or cut drinking straws into pieces as media? Thanks!

Yeah you can use those dish scrubbers as media.

Any brand new house sponge will work, make sure it has no soap residue though

Be careful. Some sponges come with anti-fungal/bacterial additives that will be harmful towards the tank. Very cheap sponges shouldn't have these, but it is always best to check first.
