Hey I just watched the vid at the top of this page about making your own rocks from a crushed oyster shell / concrete mix. They look good but it said at the end of the film that the rock needed to be soaked in fresh water to get rid of the lime before puting in a tank. however it didnt say how long to soak them for , anyone know ???

until the ph stabilizes on average a month or 2 with weekly water changes

Test the ph of the water. Wait till it reaches the ph of your normal tap water. A quick way to speed this up is on the first week do a 50/50 mix of vinegar and water, this will neutralize the lime.
