No fish yet, I won't get the filter til Thursday. I have a pump circulating the water and I put on an Eheim 2222 I had laying around to clean things up. I have a LFS holding 2 male and 4 female Cyps for me.

I still need to get some small shells.
Water is not yet crystal clear but it's getting better. I love the Eco-Conplete sand.

This is how it looks now.

This is a 40g with hundreds of CuadoPunks and Juli Ornatus that will call the new tank home

That really looks good. I did some research awhile back as I was considering creating fake rock for my 40 g. I decided against it as I wanted a High light, CO2, planted tank. I was worried about the buffering properties of the cement and therefor being able to judge the CO2 levels. (limestone, calcium carbonate, etc per this article)
Will the media that you used buffer the ph? _Maybe it doesn't matter in a high planted tank (I'm still new to this but the article scared me off it)

Again - I think this is going to look awesome - I will be looking for more pics as the weeks progress! nice job!

Thank you for the comments. Once the cement cured there was no buffering effect.

That is really a spectacular job. If your fish don't like it I'll move in :)

Seriously, I'm setting up my first Lake Tanganyika tank (only a 20 gallon long) for some multies and will also be using the Carib Sea Eco-Complete African Cichlid Sand.

Some fishy pics

Im impressed... In the first series of pictures I was a little weary with the styrofoam, but all turned out pretty well!

Thanks for sharing
