DIY Aquarium

I have an older 120 that needs a new frame/brace and I am unable to anyone that sells one for that size. I have dismantled the tank. I was thinking of cutting the glass and changing the dimensions to 48 x 18 and I will be able to purchase a new frame/brace. My problem is the bottom glass is tempered that means I would have to now use it for the front or back section as opposed to remaining on the bottom. The bottom glass is 1/4 thickness tempered while the remaining glass is 3/8 regular clear glass. Will the 1/4 tempered be strong enough to replace the 3/8 regular in the front or back? 48x18x24

Tempered is stronger than regular glass I believe. IDK for sure though.

Tempered glass is almost unbreakable in the middle, you could hit it with a hammer and it wont break. but it is very weak on the edges, one tap on the edge and your whole piece of glass shatters in to a million pieces.
