Diy cover for in tank skimmer

Trying to come up with a solution for this in tank skimmer:




My initial thought is black high pressure PVC with a hole for the return and a a ring of holes in the bottom so the skimmer can pull water.

Does that make sense? Any thoughts?

This is a 20L with a modified AC refugium.

Put this together today with white pvc and painted with krylon's plastic paint





Has 3 intake holes on the bottom (needle valve on skimmer), a output and an additional 2 holes at the top as the water was not moving in my test run.

Will be putting it in place tomorrow night to see if all is well.
