So I did my weekly water change today and decide to do an algae scrub and clean everywhere in my dead spots. This made the tank water FILTHY, bits of detritus everywhere.

So I made a quick filter from a water feature power head i had, like in this video. So far its working a great.

I originally put too strong of a pump (2000lph). Searched a bit harder and found an 850lph pump. Still a bit strong and there's not many places i can put it without treating my plants to whirlpool type conditions. Wish I had a smaller pump.

One benefit to a high power pump though is its keeping the detritus suspended in the water so that it can get caught.
