DIY: Root tabs!!!

Hello everyone ( don't know if this is the right Place for my thread , but we will find out i guess
I am sick of paying $10 for 10 root tabs that are pre made, so I'm going to make my own!

I have my eyes on using osmocote plus for the actual fertilizer, and i have found some empty bulk gel capsules (clear)

After I get both all I have to to is fill the capsule and plant them right?

But it has also come to my attention that osmocote plus has been discontinued? If this is true what could i use as an alternative?

As long as they are gelatin i wouldnt see y not but i fill mine with red dynamite ferts from amazon
