I applied the polyurethane today after letting the 3rd coat of stain. I may just be imagining this but I think the polyurethane is removing the stain

Yea it did the door didn't take stain in a couple of spots I didn't feel like starting over though.

I'm thinking of just using two pieces of bent conduit and hanging a d120 led from it instead of building a canopy

That would work very well, paint it black and it would give it a sharper look

Honestly I can't tell you 100% positive. I say if you use 1 I would put over 10-15 lbs on it. If you use 2 no more then 40. Are you gonna do a 90 degree angle or just curve it? 1/4" is really small. A simple test will help you. Take it when your ready and hang a bag on it and put 1lb bags of sand in it until you see it bending and then you can subtract half from that for the long term weight

I may go with half inch I'm still looking around so everything up in the air. I still don't even have the tank lol.
