Drain Lines into Sump

I have two 1" drilled drain lines coming from bottom of tank into my sump. Should the drain lines be submerged in the sump (i.e under the water line) or should they be above the water line. If below, any need for a vent pipe?

Im not a sump expert, but im pretty sure they should be above the water line.

Keep them submerged or they will make alot of noise and will splash water all over.

+1 for UNDER, and no, they will not need to be vented. They already are ate the intake. You need a Durso setup to quiet that down, or place a platic cup with a piece of airline tube through the bottom center over the intake.
