go kart rebuild

i recently bought a go kart from a friend for $150 then it turned out to be a vintage kart and i ended up selling it for $1350 dollars lol. so i bought a new kart. it was in perfect working order but i decided to spiff it up a little. i stripped the frame down and paintred it pewter for a base coat. i was quite a bit of work but i got it done. now it is ready for the actually paint. now i wanted something that would pop out and look like it is going fats without moving. so i started looking through the paint codes. i am in an auto class right now and i can make any colour in the entire world. so i choose a copper colour. its like an extreme pearl orange copper colour. lol i cant really explain it. looks cool though. cost me 65 bucks for a quart lol. so here is the kart after bast coat

i am also repainting the helmet to match the kart. but i really like the base solour so i was thinking about doing pinstriping or somekind of design on the hemet so i have the 2 colour showing. i will have updated pictures tomorrow hopefully. i planed on painting, clearing and baking it all tomorrow hopefully.

Intake almost looks like the ghetto version of mine. I took it off a 3.0L Dodge Caravan

Cool project. I love the color.

this reminds me of some bad tim allen "home improvement" episode. Remember when he pimped out the lawn mower?

i was in an automotive class for my second semester of school. we had 2 paintbooths. i used the brand new downdraft booth we got. it even has heaters for baking the paint! it was sooo nice to paint in. i also painted that bike in the backround. we even have a mixing room that we can make any colour under the sun. from a basic white to ferarri red. so much fun. we have 13 shops at out school. i built this in my small engine class. i wanted something fun to ride that the cops wouldnt harrase me as much(compared to my kart lol) it is technically a moped. it has a 60cc 2 stroke engine on it and the clutch is built into the engine. u hold the clutch down pedal a bit to get going then let go of the clutch and the engine engages and starts then drive away. soo much fun.

so does that go kart really have a plastic gas tank between your legs as you drive...or was it just sitting there when the photo was taken.

cuz if so...wow...i'd rather wreck in a Pinto than wipe out in that kart

the chain was least of my worries lolthe engine sits a little close to my leg. i know to keep it away know since i already burned mydelf on it. i have 3 lines on my leg now from the engine fins. only did that once lol. i love driving the bike around i get such confused looks when i start peddling it. people always ask me about it when i stop. i try not to stop near to many people since it tends to slow me down lol. i have had it going about 40 so far but it can go faster. i need to change the gearing on the rear sprocket to make it go a little quicker.
