I have a 40g freshwater tank with 1t8 actinic bulb I love the blue look it gives my tank but I'd like it to be much brighter. What can I do cheaply to increase the brightness for viewing.

I don't see how that would help unless I upgrade my hood setup.

You can get a daylight t8. They brighten everything up but then no blue look or yes just upgrade the light itself

Then you may wanna check out a dual t5 online. You can get them fairly cheap and have the blue bulb plus a 10k for brightness

Everything I've just seen looking was atleast 150$ more then I was wanting to spend. I was wanting to spend under 75$

No hood is better, it helps with better gas Exchange in your tank which make happier fish! And helps prevent a ph crash

All glass tops have a plastic back that you can cut to fit your filter and wires
