Is this filtration going to be sufficient?

It's a 36 gallon bowfront with Eheim 2217. Heater, UV sterilizer and DIY CO2 reactor on output. The background has a screened hole near the intake and it is set a little low so the output can spray over the top of it, into the front of the tank. It's also screened to keep fish from getting behind the background.

I'm hoping it will work ok, but I have never used a canister filter or 3D background. In a couple of weeks, hopefully I will have added the flora and be well on my way to a nice South American biotope.

The filter is plenty big for the tank. My concern is the location of your intake and return. Hiding them behind the background may effectively cut them off from the rest of the tank.

I've just added water. Flow to the front section of the tank seems sufficient. I took a little piece of thread tape (which tries to float) and it will draw toward the intake from about 1" from the opening I have cut in the background. I'm not sure really, the only way to know may be to wait for the cycle when I've added fish and their feces.

It'll look awesome when the algae starts to grow in . I'm also concerned with the intake, but it might work out. You might find that the gunk will stay in the forward section, and all your filter will process is clean water (mechanically), but your bio-filter should be okay at least with this setup.

Hi krap. Is that sarcasm about the algae? I think a little will look natural but I plan on getting some ottos to keep it under control. I'll use a gravel vac when I do weekly water changes. Hope it works out!

I just meant that generally these background look better/more natural when they're a little worn with a little algae. I guess it's more of an opinion, and I should have been more clear. I didn't mean it in a mean way, but I guess it could come out like that...
